General Privacy
MID is firmly committed to user privacy. Any information that can be used to identify individual customers is collected only with user permission. This document discloses types of information collected, how information is collected, and addresses the end-use of collected information.
Information that cannot be used to identify individual users
Collected information includes your internet service provider address, your browser type and plug-ins, pages visited and time of day you logged on. Raw data logs of the web server may be analyzed to determine general audience interests and website design requirements.
Information that can be used to identify individual users
Sensitive customer information will never be stored on our web server. Generally, customer information will only be used for MID purposes and will be treated with the same security precautions as data gathered by other means (i.e., telephone, written forms, mail-in information, etc.).
As a general rule information will not be given to outside entities, such as contractors, direct marketers, or other non-MID public or private sector organizations except when we have your permission or under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (i) protect and defend the rights and property of MID and (ii) act in an emergency to protect the personal safety of our customers or the public.
Application forms or requests for specific information may request a user to submit their name, phone number, fax number, street address, e-mail address, account number, or other information that can be used to identify that individual.
E-mail addresses will only be used to respond to specific customer requests.
Children’s Privacy Notice for Parents
This website complies with guidelines specified by the Children’s Online Privacy Rule which became effective on April 20, 2000. The Federal Trade Commission maintains a special Web page with more information for children and parents.
Currently, the MID website does not collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. Students who are younger than 13 may request information by mail, MID Public Affairs Dept., PO Box 4060, Modesto, CA 95352-4060 or phone (209) 526-7390.
Students 13 years of age and older may request information through this website. Collected information may be used to correspond with the student, and may include:
- Name
- Street address
- Phone number
- E-mail address
Collected information is not stored on the web server. The MID Public Affairs Department maintains student information. MID does not disclose information collected from children to third parties. Identity of the requesting parent will be verified by MID by using parent’s account number, e-mail address, phone call, and/or written letters. See MID privacy statement for children
Children’s Privacy Policy under 13 years
If you are 13 years or older, MID will only collect personal information about you if you choose to give it to us when you visit our website.
Examples: if you take a survey, or send us e-mail.
Personal information is anything that would allow you to be identified, such as your name, street address, phone number, and e-mail address. We will only use your personal information to answer your questions or help you participate in an activity — we do not give your personal information to anyone outside of MID.
Sometimes we collect non-personal information that helps us make our website attractive and easier for you to use. We want to know how many people visit our website and which pages they go to most often.
Examples: the kind of computer you use, the kind of browser and plug-ins you use, the time of day you log on, and the pages you visit. We might also collect the internet service provider you use to get on the internet (such as AOL, Pacbell, Earthlink), or the address of another web page that links to our website.
This kind of information does not allow us to identify you personally. If you are under 13 years of age, MID will not accept any personal information from you over the Internet. Students who are under 13 may request information by mail or phone.
