Colored dye used in canals for water flow monitoring (PDF)

Periodically throughout the irrigation season, MID applies Rhodamine WT, a harmless dye, to our canals to aid with water flow monitoring. As a result of the Rhodamine WT application, the water in the canals could be red, green, yellow or blue in color.

Major milestone achieved in continued effort to advance Voluntary Agreements (PDF)

Today, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and California Department of Water Resources submitted a package of voluntary agreements to the State Water Resources Control Board. The package - supported by the Modesto Irrigation District, Turlock Irrigation District, City and County of San Francisco and more than 40 other water agencies, resource agencies and non-governmental groups - is being offered as an alternative to the unimpaired flow paradigm adopted by the State Water Resources Control Board last December.

Today, Modesto Irrigation District (MID) filed a lawsuit against the California State Water Resources Control Board in response to their vote to approve Phase 1 of the Bay-Delta Water Quality Control Plan.

State Water Board votes to proceed with water grab (PDF)

While the State Water Resources Control Board voted on Wednesday December 12 to move forward with their Bay-Delta Water Quality Control Plan and Substitute Environmental Document (SED) mandating 40 percent unimpaired flow from the Tuolumne, Stanislaus and Merced rivers, they included language in their approved resolution that directed their staff to further evaluate the Tuolumne River voluntary agreement and provide an analysis by March 1, 2019.
