MID Board approves electric rate increases for 2023 and 2024

On Tuesday, November 15, the Modesto Irrigation District (MID) Board of Directors approved, by a majority vote, a 7.4% electric rate increase for 2023 and a subsequent 3.5% increase for 2024. These rate increases will apply to all MID electric customers and are effective January 1, 2023 and January 1, 2024.

MID and TID sign agreement with the state to advance Tuolumne River plan

This week the California Natural Resources Agency announced that the Modesto and Turlock irrigation districts (MID and TID) and our Tuolumne River partner San Francisco Public Utilities Commission signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to advance the Tuolumne River Voluntary Agreement. The state also released the Tuolumne River-specific term sheet which includes details on proposed river flow and habitat restoration efforts.

MID appoints Ed Franciosa as General Manager

The Modesto Irrigation District (MID) Board of Directors announced on Thursday, March 24 the appointment of Ed Franciosa to serve as the District's General Manager. Franciosa will fill this position following the resignation of Bill Schwandt who served as MID's General Manager for the last fifteen months

Colored dye in canals to monitor water flow

Periodically throughout the irrigation season, Modesto Irrigation District (MID) applies Rhodamine WT, a harmless dye, to our canals to aid with water flow monitoring. As a result of the Rhodamine WT application, the water in the canals could be red, green, yellow or blue in color.

MID and TID seek additional water rights to benefit customers, communities and environment

Responding to the impacts of climate change and other stressors, Modesto Irrigation District and Turlock Irrigation District filed a water rights application with the State Water Resources Control Board to capture unappropriated flood waters from the Tuolumne River and put them to beneficial use.

MID to resume late fees & disconnections

In April 2022, the Modesto Irrigation District (MID) will be reactivating late fees and disconnection notices for non-payment. If you are behind on your monthly payments, we encourage you to contact MID’s Customer Service Department and create a payment plan that can help get you back on track.

California water issues documentary premieres Labor Day weekend (PDF)

"Until the Last Drop," a feature-length documentary filmed along the banks of the Merced, Tuolumne, Stanislaus and San Joaquin Rivers premieres virtually Labor Day weekend 2020. In this probing film, MID along with Final Cut Media examine the rivers that have transformed the San Joaquin Valley, helped create cities and nourish the world.
