MID is active in the communities we serve – participating in events, supporting our local schools, students and teachers and collaborating and partnering with fellow community organizations. MID Academy is a District-wide education initiative to help you learn more about your community-owned utility and introduce you to some of the people behind our services.
Supporting students
Education is power! MID staff often visits schools within our service area to talk about our operations and the wide variety of water and power career opportunities. From sharing canal and electric safety tips, discussing how we safely deliver power to homes and businesses, demonstrating how the District provides water to farms and supports local agriculture or showcasing the variety of career opportunities available at MID, we’re happy to tailor classroom discussions and presentations to what students are curious about and feature topics that complement curriculum standards.
We also have a variety of educational resources and materials available to print or utilize at events or in the classroom.

Community partnerships
MID works with a variety of local agencies and organizations to showcase MID facilities, tools, and resources to increase awareness and collaboration with emergency response procedures, agricultural efforts, and community education.
