MID Water Allocation Policy

The base irrigation water allocation is 48 inches (4.0 acre-feet), which is included in the $27.00 per acre “irrigated” water service charge. (The minimum irrigation service charge per account, regardless of acreage, is $135.00).
Excess Water - An additional 12 (twelve) inches of irrigation water (from 48 to 60 inches) will be made available at a cost of $13.50 per acre-foot, or part thereof.
In circumstances where crops need extra water beyond the Excess Water cap, supplementary surface water or ground water may be available at a cost of $20.00 per acre-foot, or part thereof.
The "facilities maintenance" charge is $13.50 per acre. The minimum "facilities maintenance" water service charge per account regardless of acreage is $67.50. Please note: Landowner ONLY pays a “facilities maintenance” charge if not taking any surface irrigation water. Landowner pays either an “irrigated” service water charge or a “facilities maintenance” charge, not both.
If the State of California levies fees or other charges upon the District, the District reserves the option to pass these costs on to the water consumers.
Continuing the water transfer policy of past years, a landowner may transfer water from an owned or rented parcel to another parcel which landowner owns or rents, provided that the rented parcel from which water is to be transferred, was rented to the same landowner during the prior year's irrigation season. The water can only be transferred to and from lands within the boundaries of the District. Please contact the District Water Operations Division staff for details.
