Water Allocation Policy and Rates

• Base irrigation water allocation is 36 inches at $21.50 per acre "irrigated" water service charge. Minimum "irrigated" water service charge regardless of acreage: $107.50.
  
• An additional 36 inches of irrigation water is available at a cost of $10.75 per acre-foot.
  
• Supplemental groundwater: In special circumstances where crops need water in addition to the above amounts, a landowner may make written request for groundwater. If MID approves the request, supplemental pumped groundwater may be available at a cost of $20.00 per acre-foot.
  
• The "facilities maintenance" charge is $10.75 per acre. The minimum "facilities maintenance" charge per account, regardless of acreage, is $53.75. Please note: Landowner pays a "facilities maintenance" charge only if not taking any surface irrigation water. Landowner pays either an "irrigated" service water charge or a "facilities maintenance" charge, not both.
  
• If the State of California levies fees or other charges upon MID, MID reserves the option to pass the cost on to the water consumer.
  
• A landowner may transfer water from a parcel he owns or rents to another parcel he owns or rents. To transfer water from a rented parcel the landowner must have rented that parcel during the previous irrigation season. Water can only be transferred to and from lands within MID irrigation boundary. Please contact Irrigation Services at 526-7639 for details.
