Comprehensive Water Resources Management Plan (CWRMP)
The Comprehensive Water Resources Management Plan (CWRMP) is a multi-disciplinary study that will unify all of MID’s previous planning efforts under a single umbrella.
The CWRMP will
- Use a structured analytical process
- More accurately determine how much farmland is being lost to urbanization
- Analyze crop use on lands irrigated with MID water
- Seek ways to improve operational efficiency
- Look at regulatory compliance issues
- Involve public input from a Community Advisory Panel
- Explore innovative, outside-the-box ideas.
The CWRMP is divided into three phases over three years:
| Phase 1: |
Describe and analyze MID’s existing irrigation system and
operating procedures. |
| |
Phase 1 Report Executive Summary |
| |
|
| Phase 2: |
Discuss possible system upgrades, including outside-the-box
ideas. |
| |
|
| Phase 3: |
Produce the following plans: |
| |
- Distribution System Optimization
- Drought Management
- Conjunctive Water Use
- Operational Outflow Management.
|
| Expected project costs: $250,000 per year for three years. |
