A Modesto-area dairy recently began generating power from methane gas produced from dairy waste. The dairy is using an innovative digester system, similar to a wastewater treatment plant, only the second of its kind in the United States. This system breaks down the dairy waste, producing methane gas. The methane burned will generate enough electricity to serve the energy needs of the dairy, with excess left to sell to MID. This will help MID meet its goal of 20 percent renewable energy by 2017.

About the MID Victory Garden
