MID’s electrical system has over 20,000 oilfilled transformers – not counting other oilfilled equipment, oils for vehicles, construction equipment and hydraulics. When equipment needs replacement or maintenance, oil that’s removed is recycled.

In 2008, MID has recovered over 46,000 gallons of waste oil for recycling and sent 74 tons of oilfilled equipment to recycling facilities.
