Moving/Discontinue
Service
When planning a move, please contact
us at least one day in advance. If
you discontinue service, provide the
exact date that you want your service
to be ended. Otherwise, you will be billed
for service up to the date it is discovered
that you are no longer at the location.
Applications for service received between
8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday,
will be activated the next workday. If
you contact MID after noon, but want
electric service before the close of
business, you will be charged a $75 priority
initiation fee. M I D charges $75 for
an emergency request for service outside
regular office hours. Call MID at (209)

Deposits
- Residential: MID charges
a minimum deposit of $200 or two times
the estimated highest monthly usage.
The deposit may be waived if the customer
presents a letter from a previous utility
that certifies one year of good credit
with no more than two late notices. The
deposit will be applied to the account
after payments of 12 months in a row
without more than two past due bills.
- Commercial/Industrial: MID
charges a new commercial/industrial account
a deposit that is three times the highest
monthly usage at the address of the new
service. The minimum commercial deposit
is $300. The deposit may be waived if
the customer presents a letter from a
previous utility that certifies two years
of good credit with no more than two
late notices. The deposit will be applied
to the account after payments of 24 months
in a row without more than two past due
bills.
- Dusk to dawn lighting: Deposit
will be three times the highest estimated
monthly bill for the dusk to dawn light(s),
but not less than the minimum deposit
amount of $30.
- Agricultural pumping: Deposit
will be three times highest estimated
monthly bill for agricultural pumping,
but not less than the minimum deposit
amount of $30.
Appointment time frame
In most instances, you need not be present
for MID to provide a service connection
or repair to your home or business. However,
if your presence is required, you have
the right to request a mutually agreed-upon
appointment within a four-hour period.
If you are present and the service connection
or repair work does not begin within that
specified four-hour period (except for
delays caused by unforeseen or unavoidable
circumstances beyond MID ’s control),
you may have the right to recover some
costs in small claims court. These include
lost wages, expenses actually incurred
or other actual damages up to $500. |
