We can all use a friendly reminder now and then.
Maybe you know someone who is elderly, in poor health, or
just a little bit forgetful. Maybe you fit that description. It’s easy
to overlook an electric bill or disconnect notice. Now senior citizens and
dependent adults can name a trusted person to remind them when it’s time
to pay the MID electric bill.
Be sure your electric bill is paid on time.
Third Party Notification is a free service, and it’s voluntary. It gives peace of mind by reminding you when you’ve forgotten to pay your electric bill. If you are a senior age 65 and older or a dependent adult, you may benefit from Third Party Notification.
Here's how Third Party Notification works.
It’s easy, free, and voluntary. You choose a friend, relative, or neighbor—someone
you trust. By completing the application, you give MID permission to contact
that person if your electric bill goes unpaid. The person you name will help
you understand your MID account. They’ll explain what the problem is
and how you can get your account paid. That reduces the chance that your power
will be turned off because you accidentally missed paying an electric bill.
And it’s
much less likely that a collection agency will contact you. The information
you give MID is confidential.
MID will try in good faith to reach the person you name. We incur no liability for failure to do so. Of course, you are still responsible for paying the electric bill, not the third party you chose.
