MID offers incentives to electric customers who purchase and install solar photovoltaic (PV) electricity generating systems on their home or business.

Solar PV systems may also be eligible for federal tax credits which are subject to change (see www.irs.gov). MID must approve projects prior to installation. Customers are required to first complete and submit to MID a PV Rebate Reservation Request Form/Program Contract & required documentation.

Incomplete reservation packets will be returned. Please review the Program Requirements before submitting your reservation request.

MID offers two solar PV incentive programs depending on the size of the PV system installed:

MID Solar Photovoltaic Incentive (Peak output of 30 kilowatts (kW) or less)
Rebate incentive for qualified PV systems of $1.00 per installed alternating current (AC-CSI) watt per customer account not to exceed 50% of eligible project costs.
MID Performance-Based Incentive (PBI) (Peak output greater than 30 kW and up to 1,000 kW)
Incentive based on the actual energy production of the PV system installed. The incentive is currently $0.10 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of solar energy produced up to the first five years the PV system is in place not to exceed 50% of eligible project costs.

www.solarelectricpower.orgCalifornia Senate Bill 1 requires that utility PV incentives are reduced over time.

NOTE: Qualifying PV systems must have a minimum peak capacity of at least 1,000 watts (1 kW) and all systems must be customer owned. Programs are applicable for existing MID residential, commercial and agricultural electric accounts. These programs are not applicable to new construction.

PV systems must be installed by licensed California contractors who possess, or employ subcontractors who possess an A, B, C-10 or C-46 license.
