• Products can only receive one rebate from MID during its useful life period, which is defined as 20 years for attic insulation.
  Reapplication for rebates will not be accepted during this period.
• Rebate only available in homes with electric heat pump or resistance baseboard heating as the primary heating source.
• Must have pre-retrofit insulation level of R-11 or less.
• Final insulation level must be R-30 or greater.
• When adequate attic crawl space is not available (24 inches from ceiling joist to roof rafters), the minimum purchased insulation level must is R-19.
• Garages and other non-living areas do not qualify.

Radiant Barrier Laminated Sheeting - Roofing
Rebate amount $0.10 Sq Ft. Maximum rebate $500.00.

• Products can only receive one rebate from MID during its useful life period, which is defined as 25 years for radiant barrier laminate sheeting. Reapplication for rebates will not be accepted during this period.
• Residence must have central air conditioning system (portable A/C units and evaporative (swamp) coolers do not qualify).
• Rebate applies to square footage of centrally air-conditioned space of the first floor only.
• Must have a radiant heat rejection rating of 95% or greater and must meet Energy Star^® emissivity requirements.
• Conventional architectural overhangs are allowed in the square footage.

Radiant Barrier - Attic
Rebates amount $0.10 Sq Ft. Maximum rebate $500.00.

• Products can only receive one rebate from MID during its useful life period, which is defined as 25 years for radiant barrier.
  Reapplication for rebates will not be accepted during this period.
• Must be attached to framing, to either rafters or over existing attic insulation.
• Residence must have central air conditioning system (portable A/C units and evaporative (swamp) coolers do not qualify).
• Must have a radiant heat rejection rating of 95% or greater and must meet Energy Star^® emissivity requirements.
• Radiant barrier spray does not qualify for this rebate.

Radiant Barrier Facts

• A radiant barrier is a metallic foil material (usually aluminum) designed to block (reflect) radiant heat transfer.
• Radiant barriers are most commonly installed in the attic attached to the roof rafters.
• Can be installed by a contractor or self-installed by the homeowner.
• Reflectivity is the measure of how much radiant heat is reflected by a material. It is expressed as a number between 0 and 1 or as a percentage between 0 and 100%. The higher the number, the greater the material’s ability to reflect radiant heat.
• Radiant barrier reflects radiant heat energy instead of trying to absorb it. What does this mean in your home? In the summer, up to 93% of heat gain is radiant. Reducing the amount of radiant heat transferred through the ceiling can reduce your cooling costs by approximately 8%.
