MID will be launching a new and improved customer billing system on Tuesday, September 5.

As part of this system change, you won't be able to make payments on your account on any MID payment system from Thursday, August 31 at 2 p.m. until Tuesday, September 5 at 8 a.m. Customer Service in the MID Downtown Lobby will also be closed on Friday, September 1. Please plan accordingly.

New Account Number

A new account number will be assigned to you with the new billing system. You can find the new account number on the first bill you receive from the new billing system.

New Bill Format

Your bill will look different, but will be easy to read and include more helpful information, such as:

  • Total account summaries
  • 12-month electric usage graph
  • Charge descriptions with billing rate information

Online Self-Service Options

Along with the new billing system, MID will soon be able to offer the following online self-service options to help you better manage your account.

  • Go paperless! Request to be notified when your bill ready to be viewed online.
  • Set up Guest User access for someone that isn't the account holder.
  • Request forms and submit documents.
  • Update your mailing address.
  • Review bills, balances and electric usage graphs.
  • Make online payments.

Online Payment Customers

Once the new billing system is launched, customers who make online payments using the MID Online web portal will need to re-enroll with their new account number at using the new MID Customer Self-Service portal. You will also be able to access a variety of forms, receive account alerts, communicate with customer service and request moves, adds and changes. If you currently use the auto-pay feature, you will need to set up your auto-pay options again in the new system when you re-enroll.

Online Banking Customers

When you receive your first bill with your new account number, you will need to notify your bank of the new account number.

Budget Payment Plan Customers

Once MID's new system is live, your Budget Payment Plan amount will be re-evaluated based on the previous 12-months of usage and a new budget amount will be established. Going forward, the new system will automatically re-evaluate your monthly bill and adjust accordingly anytime the monthly amount goes over or under the annual average by 30%. With this new automated re-evaluation functionality, fluctuations in your monthly budget payment plan should be more stable throughout the year.
