MID Earth Day report now available
Greening Our Communities 2010
Green, blue or brown, electric power comes from a wide array of sources, and the Modesto
Irrigation District (MID) is helping Stanislaus County elementary students learn how it’s
generated and why conserving power should be an everyday priority.
MID’s Energy 411 schools program is just one of the stories you’ll see in MID’s 2010 Earth Day
publication, Greening Our Communities.
“People and organizations have made earth-friendly actions a part of everyday life, and MID is
no exception,” said MID Public Affairs Specialist Kate Hora. “This publication is one way of
telling the customers we serve where their electricity will come from this year, where it may
come from in the future and how they can help themselves, their communities and the larger
environment by conserving energy.”
Other things you’ll learn in Greening Our Communities include:
- What does – and doesn’t – qualify as “green” energy in California
- An experimental battery project that could store enough energy to power 25,000 homes during brief emergencies
- How much California’s green mandates could cost – updated estimates
- How to get MPowered with MID rebates that save you energy and money
- 2009 Recycling – MID racked up some impressive numbers.
