Board of Directors
The Modesto Irrigation District Board of Directors
sets policy for the District. Each Board member
is elected four-year terms by registered voters
in geographical divisions within the irrigation
district boundary.

Larry Byrd, Division 1 (southeast area including southeast Modesto, Empire, Waterford and Roberts Ferry), was elected to the Board of Directors in 2011. Mr. Byrd retired from MID in 2006 after 35 years of service. He was born and raised on a farm in west Modesto and is a cattle rancher and almond grower in Waterford.

Glen Wild,
Division 2 (Central
Modesto) was elected to the MID Board in 2009. Mr. Wild, a U.S. Air Force veteran, is a retired business owner with more than 35 years of experience. He is involved in several community organizations. Mr. Wild is the 2012 Board Vice President.

Tom
Van Groningen,
Division 3 (northeast
area) was elected to the Board in 1997,
2001, and 2005. A Modesto resident since
1974, he served as Yosemite Community College
District Chancellor from
1976-1992. He is active in professional
organizations and the community. Mr. Groningen is the 2012 Board President.

Paul
Warda, Division
4 (orthwest area) was appointed
to the Board in mid-1994 and then elected
in 1997, 2001, 2005 and 2009. An area resident
since 1945, he is a walnut farmer and retired
vice president of printing operations for
Tenet Health Care Systems. He has been
involved in numerous community activities,
including Modesto Rotary, Stanislaus County
Fair Board, Greater Modesto Safety Council,
United Way and Community Hospice.

Nick Blom, Division
5 (southwest area), was elected to the MID
Board in 2011. He was born and raised in west Modesto and graduated from California State University, Fresno with a degree in Agriculture Education. Mr. Blom owns and operates a farm with his father and brother. He is active in numerous community organizations.
