Notice of Intent to Adopt to Mitigated Negative Declaration and Notice of Public Meeting - Ownership Boundary Realignments at Modesto Reservoir

The proposed project involves the sale of five Modesto Irrigation District (MID)-owned sites totaling 11.5 acres to the adjoining owners in order to resolve boundary concerns and allow continuation of existing orchard operations.  Sale of the properties would require the approval of the MID Board of Directors and related actions to effectuate the land ownership transfer.  The existing Modesto Reservoir recreational land lease to Stanislaus County would also need to be modified to reflect boundary changes.

MID is the Lead Agency for the project under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).  An Initial Study/ Negative Declaration (IS/ND) was prepared that analyzes the potential environmental effects of the project. Based on this analysis, the IS/ND finds that the project will not involve potential or significant environmental effects, and no mitigation measures are required.  There are no sites enumerated under Section 65962.5 of the Government Code located on or near the project site.

MID will accept comments on the IS/ND during a 30-day review period that will begin February 11, 2017 and end on March 13, 2017.  The IS/ND may be reviewed online at or at the MID offices, 1231 11th Street, Modesto.  Comments may be submitted in writing before March 13, 2017 to the address below.

The MID Board of Directors will hold a public meeting to consider adoption of IS/ND for the project on March 14, 2017, at 9 a.m. in the MID Board Room, 1231 11th Street, Modesto.
