PG&E New Municipal Departing Load Fees
Q: Who is this information for?
A: This information is for an MID electric customer who
- Receives commercial or residential service from MID, AND
- Is located in Escalon, Oakdale, Ripon or north Riverbank, AND
- Is in a new development (built after 2001), AND
- The development NEVER received electric service from PG&E.

Q: How many MID customers are affected?
A: About 2,800 MID customers (about 3,450 accounts) are potentially affected.
Q: Who is charging these fees?
A: PG&E plans to start billing certain electric charges beginning in May 2008. MID is mailing affected customers a letter dated April 18, 2008, with more information.
Q: Who can I call about these fees?
A: The letter includes a contact list that customers can call for answers and help.
Q: Did MID do anything about these fees?
A: Yes, MID argued against these fees on behalf of MID customers at the California Public Utilities Commission. Now MID and other public power utilities are taking our customers’ fight to the California Supreme Court. MID is waiting to learn whether the Supreme Court will hear the case.
